Position: Psychologist
Location: Kampong Cham province
AFESIP Cambodia (French acronym for Acting for Women in Distressing Situations) is a local NGO established in 1996 works to cares for and secures the rights of women and girls who victimized by human trafficking, sexual abused and exploitation by giving them the options, safety rehabilitation centers, vocational skills, education and belief in themselves to make positive choices for their future self-sufficiency through financial independence in a sustainable and innovative manner www.afesip.org
Position Overview
Psychologist is responsible for supporting recovery process through psychological health assessment sessions and follow-up on an individual basis and in groups’ base on the technical and professional services required. The psychologist participates in development of program strategy and planning as required by the management. Furthermore, the psychologist will work closely with centers and relevant staff to assist in accompanying cases to court, etc.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct initial psychological assessment of all new residents;
- Make further assessments as needed and refer to other agencies as appropriate.
- Plan and implement primary mental health care and psychology counseling and therapy as needed to meet psychological needs of center residents and the women and girls who are being trained at outsource partners and reintegrated women.
- Attend staff and residents weekly center meetings to review cases, share information about new arrivals, seek ways to solve problems and improve performance, receive working schedule and identify priorities.
- Attend external meetings or workshops for capacity building and to present AFESIP’s activities to outsiders when assigned by line manager.
- Follow up residents who were reintegrated to communities.
- Update information into database records in collaboration with statistics staff.
- Monitor mental health medication, liaise with hospital providers, accompany residents for external treatment as required.
- Liaise and cooperate closely with center manager about residents' rehabilitation progress.
- Taking the young women and girls from police, local authorities, provincial social affairs department and other referral source partners to center when assigned.
- Oversee residents and intervene as necessary (e.g. resolve disputes)
- Develop weekly, monthly, quarterly and semester report and monthly and annual action plan and annual budget plan to Psychology Program and Center Manager.
- Undertake any other tasks requested by management
Requirements and qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Psychology is required.
- At least one year of clinical experience.
- Desire and capacity to work effectively with traumatized victims and survivors.
- Knowledge of computer (Word, Excel, Power point)
- Fluency in English writing, speaking and comprehension
- Good interpersonal skill/ability
- To support and providing counseling to deal their problem in positive way.
- As a providing therapy program as like as Self Help Group, Art therapy and Yoga class.
- For working in frame work or team work
Compensation and Benefits
This position pays from $300 up based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. The hired individuals will also opportunity to work with foreign expertise and health insurance benefits.

Stylist / Beauty Artist
The Somaly Mam Beauty+ Salon is seeking an experienced hair stylist / beauty artist to provide beauty services at our salon in Siem Reap, Cambodia. The ideal candidate will have several years of experience in all aspects of beauty including hair styling, make-up application, skin care treatments and nail services. As our salon is a training salon for young women, every candidate must possess strong training skills and a desire to teach.
Job Activities:
- Consult with clients and make recommendations for hair styles, treatments, make-up and/or nail services
- Demonstrate and sell beauty products and tools
- Shampoo, rinse, condition, cut and style hair
- Apply skin treatments, foundations, mascara, eye shadow, eyeliner, lipstick/gloss, lip liner and other make-up applications as requested for casual and formal (e.g. weddings) events
- Keep salon clean and tools sanitized
- Provide hair coloring and straightening treatments
- Maintain a client register and build a strong repeat client list
- Conduct formal and on-the-job training sessions on beauty skills to trainees
- Open and close salon to support the salon manager
- Be an interim Salon Manager during her upcoming maternity leave
- Perform other tasks assigned by the manager
Requirements:
- Experiences of working in a successful salon demonstrating successful beauty skills
- A solid base of repeat clients who can recommend the candidate
- At least basic English speaking skills and comfort speaking to tourists / foreigners (other languages such as Chinese are also appreciated)
- Fluent in Khmer language and culture
- Demonstrated knowledge of proper salon procedures and sanitization techniques
- A passion for continued beauty education and a proven track record of keeping up with the latest trends
- A desire to help young women from disadvantaged backgrounds learn the beauty trade and find success
Compensation and Benefits:
This position pays from $300 - $600 based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. The hired individual will also be offered a commission for growing the business, opportunity to get additional training from foreign expertise, medical benefits and will keep all their individual tips.

About The Somaly Mam Beauty+ Salon:
The Somaly Mam Beauty+ Salon is an economic empowerment project established through a collaboration between the Cambodian NGO AFESIP and an impassioned team from The Estee Lauder Companies. The salon acts as both an oasis of beauty services for customers in the Siem Reap area and a training center for aspiring beauty professionals.
The salon team shares the belief that an empowered, financially independent woman is a positive voice for change in developing countries. The Somaly Mam Beauty+ Salon opens an avenue to independence for girls rescued from exploitation and provides them with an opportunity to generate income to support themselves and their families. Through mastery of salon and small business management skills, each girl increases her self confidence and distances herself from vulnerabilities that would allow for exploitation and abuse. This type of empowerment also boosts each woman’s position within the community which helps to erase stigmas and encourages gender equality.
With each graduate from the salon, a positive revenue generating solution is enabled. Kept under careful watch of the NGO and the salon team, our graduates apply their entrepreneurial spirits to drive their own businesses forward. As more graduate from training, we create an economic enabler as every dollar earned keeps them and their families out of poverty and drives their communities forward. Our young entrepreneurs also become positive voices for change and role models for women in their communities. Using the magic that is a salon experience, our young women are advocates for gender equality and bridges for other women to find their path forward.
