The Somaly Mam Foundation (SMF) is an international nonprofit organization launched in 2007 and co-founded by Somaly Mam. Based in New York, with an office in Phnom Penh, SMF was established as a funding vehicle to support victim services organizations, eradicate slavery through global advocacy, and to empower survivors to be part of the solution to end trafficking. The Somaly Mam Foundation is currently AFESIP Cambodia’s biggest donor. Thanks to SMF, AFESIP Cambodia has international support and former AFESIP center residents have a platform to work as advocates and catalysts of next-generation change. They also provide support and mentorship to current residents through SMF’s Voices For Change program.
AFESIP and the Somaly Mam Foundation cooperate on public awareness raising campaigns, events and media. SMF helps facilitate skills sharing and capacity building between AFESIP Cambodia and other regional partners.
