A high inflation rate will affect consumption rates of food and other products. The inflation in Cambodia of all goods now are at very high price unexpectedly. Due to the high inflation, there will effect to the increase of number of women and girls in sex trades, rape, theft, robbery.... human rights violation.
Considering the recent months’ great and uncontrollable inflation in Cambodia, such as the cost of rice, food and other goods becoming rocketing high, the extraordinary meeting was held on 12th May 2008 presided over by Somaly Mam, President of AFESIP Cambodia and participated by the Executive Committee members comprising of Mr. Uong Chheng, Excom Chairman and Head of Health Department; Mr. Sao Chhoeurth, Deputy Chairman of Excom and Technical Coordinator; Mr. Som Sophatra, Excom Secretary and Administration Human Resource and Communication Coordinator; and Miss Lin Sylor, Assistant to President.
The meeting unanimously recognizes and declares that within the months to come, AFESIP Cambodia will meet with financial crisis due to the late financial support from donors through AFESIP proposals.
