A three-year cooperation agreement between AFESIP Cambodia and the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation was signed on June 10, 2009 at the ministry office by HE Hav Bunse, Secretary of State, and Somaly Mam, President of AFESIP Cambodia and the Somaly Mam Foundation. The signing ceremony was witnessed by high ranking officials of the ministry and of AFESIP Cambodia. It is the third of its kind since 1997.
On behalf of Somaly Mam, AFESIP National Coordinator Mr. Sao Chhoeurth presented a description of activities implemented by AFESIP Cambodia in cooperation with the government ministry over the course of the past three years. HE Bunse then praised Somaly Mam and her leadership of AFESIP in its work for the well-being of the women and children who are victims of human trafficking and sexual exploitation. He complimented AFESIP, describing it as a wonderful social program that helps the nation to overcome poverty, and thanked AFESIP for its continued success in helping the people of Cambodia.
